I have been placed at Canton Middle School. I went today to tour the school, and I loved it!!! The building itself is beautiful! I met the teacher I will be working with. Her name is Crystal McCracken. She has been teaching for 18 years and she is a native of Haywood Co. She is a 7th grade Social Studies teacher. I am so excited!! I will be sure to update with exciting news from the 7th grade classroom.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-83945528320276679332011-01-23T00:02:00.002-05:002011-01-23T00:03:02.044-05:00Happy 19th Birthday Matthew<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/TTu2gUUC1pI/AAAAAAAAAWc/0XZZ-Yt8IC0/s1600/img020.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 211px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/TTu2gUUC1pI/AAAAAAAAAWc/0XZZ-Yt8IC0/s320/img020.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565242430871230098" /></a>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-32332455897140938472010-12-29T22:23:00.001-05:002010-12-29T22:23:53.218-05:00Christmas in Florida<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d6a45344d7a67324e44593d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox slideshow" src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4d6a45344d7a67324e44593d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own slideshow - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center">Make a <a href="http://www.smilebox.com/slideshows.html" target="_blank">free slideshow</a></td></tr></table>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-82530617974112192102010-12-29T21:25:00.000-05:002010-12-29T21:27:12.297-05:00<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d6a45344d7a59334d6a4d3d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox slideshow" src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4d6a45344d7a59334d6a4d3d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own slideshow - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center">Make your own <a href="http://www.smilebox.com/" target="_blank">slideshow design</a></td></tr></table>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-90531059476021792352010-04-12T11:39:00.004-04:002010-04-12T11:46:56.725-04:00Happy Birthday Amy!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/S8NAZ2EPx3I/AAAAAAAAAUE/J98tOns9EiM/s1600/27241_1362013326466_1115560154_31094661_7441282_s.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 130px; height: 117px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/S8NAZ2EPx3I/AAAAAAAAAUE/J98tOns9EiM/s320/27241_1362013326466_1115560154_31094661_7441282_s.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459277986057406322" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/S8M_m-rmp8I/AAAAAAAAAT8/ysDVt5J2Ng4/s1600/img047.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 222px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/S8M_m-rmp8I/AAAAAAAAAT8/ysDVt5J2Ng4/s320/img047.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459277112196638658" border="0" /></a><br />Happy Birthday Amy!!! Well school is going pretty good so far. I have three design classes : Drafting, Survey of Materials and History of Furniture and Design. I also have a Marketing class. Marketing class is okay. We have a group project and my group had to come up with a new grooming product, test marketed, in New Orleans. Our product is a shampoo/body wash combo that has anti-perspirant in it. So you have one product...( I have to give credit to momma..it was her idea).<br /><br />Drafting class is okay right now. Learning how to read the triangular scale. Materials class is interesting. I'm learning a lot about different materials like concrete, stone, and brick. Furniture class is okay.. the teacher is not that exciting.<br /><br />Went to Atlanta last weekend with mom and Frank and saw Alton Brown!! For those of you who don't know who he is, he is a chef/scientist/ entertainer on Food Network. His show, Good Eats, was celebrating its 10 year anniversary. It was a lot of fun!<br /><br />This past weekend, I came home for the Apple Festival. I had a caramel apple and it was yummy. Celebrated Daddy's birthday yesterday since he has to work on his birthday. Donna made pot roast with carrots and potatoes. Also had angel food cake with strawberries.<br /><br />Going back to school today. I will try and keep this updated.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-50370684277928680652009-07-19T20:44:00.001-04:002009-07-19T20:45:20.155-04:00Dean's List....Spring 09I made the Dean's List this past semester. Here is a<a href="http://www.wcu.edu/pubinfo/news/deanslist/Spring_2009_NC.htm"> link</a> that shows it.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-38958951543874890542009-06-20T18:11:00.002-04:002009-06-20T18:15:45.634-04:00Father's Day CelebrationSorry it has been so long since I updated.<br /><br />This past Thursday, we celebrated Father's Day. We had hotdogs, baked beans, and coleslaw. Nana came out also. We also had ice cream which was yummy and 1/2 the fat. haha. So you feel okay when you eat a big bowel. It was Pet ice cream and the flavor was Brownie something.<br /><br />For Father's Day, we made two scrapbooks for daddy and fixed up another one. It was all of Matthew's sports (baseball and basketball) clippings from the paper and also some pictures. Daddy really liked it.<br /><br />Tomorrow, we are going to go to church with Grandma and Granddaddy and then go out to eat.<br /><br />Please pray for Donna's Mom (Mrs. Baker). She has gone back to the hospital. The last I heard (around 11 am)- she had woken up and was responsive. Much better report than last night.<br /><br />Happy Father's Day to all the fathers.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-54037329956973516262009-04-22T19:02:00.002-04:002009-04-22T19:08:14.255-04:00Birthday Celebration with DadToday, my daddy took me out for my birthday. We went and ate at Ironstone Grill. It was delicious. Roast beef, green beans, roasted potatoes, corn nuggets. mmm. Then we went to see where the movie theater was...ok funny story. I had just passed this theater on Monday on my way back from Atlanta. I told daddy that it was "just down the road." So we kept driving and beginning to wonder. We ended up near the sign for the Nanahala Forest. Whoops! haha. I forgot to tell him that you have to get on 441 South. So we turned back around and then we found it. Sorry dad. Then we had time to spare so we went to downtown Franklin and drove around. We ate some ice cream at a place called Peppermint Patties. Didn't see Charlie Brown or Linus. haha. I had chocolate covered cherry ice cream and daddy had sugar free butter pecan. Then we went and saw where I used we used to swim for conference with H-CATS. It looks different. Then we wasted some time in Big Lots. Got two good movies for $6. Then we went and saw<span style="font-weight: bold;"> 17 Again</span> with Zac Efron. It was so good.<br /><br />Thank you daddy for my birthday celebration. I love you!Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-44674157669283420002009-04-19T13:37:00.002-04:002009-04-19T13:45:24.176-04:00Sorry it's been so longHello everyone.<br /><br />Sorry it's been so long since I updated. We had to come up with a "tag"- which is basically your name. Then you had to fill up the rest of the space with whatever you wanted. Then she told us that we had to work with other people and incorporate each others ideas so it flowed throughout the canvas.<br /><br />My tag is my name Amanda.<br />I have a cross for religion. I have WCU because that's where I am receiving my degree and because it's important to me. I have a Christmas tree because I LOVE Christmas and the holidays. I have an issue of People magazine because that is my favorite guilty pleasure. I have a flip-flop that says "RIP" on it because I usually wear flip-flops so much, that I wear them out quickly. I have a heart that says "I Love Lucy" because that is one of my favorite shows. I have a house that looks nice on one side and bad on the other because I want to restore old houses. There is red polka dots because I like polka dots.<br /><br />I included my grafitti and a picture of the whole thing. Enjoy.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-19219863513447984502009-03-21T14:29:00.002-04:002009-03-21T14:30:55.859-04:00Art ClassHello everyone. Spring Break was a couple of weeks ago. I didn't really do much. Enjoyed the 7 and 1/2 inches of snow that I got on Spring Break. haha kind of ironic. Worked a couple of days at the country club.<br /><br />School is going pretty well. I will be updating my blog soon with some of my art projects that I am working on. Submitted 2 of my drawings to NOMAD (the literary magazine). It will be reviewed and I will find out in April if it will be in the fall issue.<br /><br />Congratulations on Matthew and the Falcons team!! Not been able to go to any but I am keeping up on the internet.<br /><br />Will be updating soon.Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-48171443008370370802009-03-18T10:59:00.002-04:002009-03-18T11:00:53.227-04:00Grove Park Inn<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/ScEMnB-0-dI/AAAAAAAAAFI/TjqAFjduT_E/s1600-h/Grove+Park+Inn+Spa.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 247px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/ScEMnB-0-dI/AAAAAAAAAFI/TjqAFjduT_E/s320/Grove+Park+Inn+Spa.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314542899960281554" border="0" /></a><br />Last Monday, I went to the Spa at the Grove Park Inn for my Interior Design class. Her caption said <a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SatgTJAhOMI/AAAAAAAAAFA/uAQUVUhTMAM/s1600-h/ashley%27s+snowman.jpg"><img style="CLEAR: both; FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SatgTJAhOMI/AAAAAAAAAFA/uAQUVUhTMAM/s320/ashley%27s+snowman.jpg" border="0" /></a> "A snowman on his snowlaptop chatting with his snowhomies on snowfacebook." I thought that was so cute. I can't believe it's snowing on my Spring Break. It's almost like I'm on Winter Break. Last time I checked around 9:30ish, we had 7.5 inches of snow.<div style='clear:both; text-align:LEFT'><a href='http://picasa.google.com/blogger/' target='ext'><img src='http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif' alt='Posted by Picasa' style='border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: initial; -moz-background-origin: initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: initial;' align='middle' border='0' /></a></div>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-24676401685880259612009-02-24T20:48:00.001-05:002009-02-24T20:49:49.365-05:00Adventure to the Asheville Art Museum. This past Friday, I went to the Asheville Art Museum for our Project 5. I went and saw Eva Zeisel’s <em>The Shape of Life. </em>I had a great time. Her work was amazing. Eva Zeisel was born in Hungary in 1906. She was the first woman at the Royal Academy to learn the craft of ceramics. She has had a very successful life. She takes advantage of the softness of the clay. She had ceramics, glass objects, and a table that she designed. I had never been in an art museum when I was really able to appreciate it. I really enjoyed going and just spending time in almost another world. It was very relaxing. I have added a couple pieces of her artwork. I used the guidelines that we used in our library session to describe the artwork I saw. I wrote a formal description on either six or seven pieces. I have it all written down in my notebook. I will be making a powerpoint soon. <a href="http://blog.wcu.edu/akroberts/files/2009/02/schmoos_for_web.jpg"><img style="width: 212px; height: 212px;" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-82" src="http://blog.wcu.edu/akroberts/files/2009/02/schmoos_for_web.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://blog.wcu.edu/akroberts/files/2009/02/eva-zeisel-plate.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-83" src="http://blog.wcu.edu/akroberts/files/2009/02/eva-zeisel-plate-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-45640704853342377142009-02-10T16:41:00.002-05:002009-02-10T16:42:27.545-05:00Slide Show of Downtown Sylva-Went for Drawing Class-Move Mouse over pics for captions<p style="visibility: visible;"><object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://widget-89.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" style="width: 426px; height: 320px;" width="426" height="320"><param name="movie" value="http://widget-89.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf"><param name="quality" value="high"><param name="scale" value="noscale"><param name="salign" value="l"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"> <param name="flashvars" value="cy=ms&il=1&channel=3098476543637808009&site=widget-89.slide.com"></object></p><p style="white-space: nowrap;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=ms&at=un&id=3098476543637808009&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-89.slide.com/p1/3098476543637808009/ms_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" ismap="ismap" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=ms&at=un&id=3098476543637808009&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-89.slide.com/p2/3098476543637808009/ms_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" ismap="ismap" border="0" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=ms&at=un&id=3098476543637808009&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-89.slide.com/p4/3098476543637808009/ms_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" ismap="ismap" border="0" /></a></p><p></p>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-73559203839145515172009-02-01T19:01:00.006-05:002009-02-01T19:06:56.532-05:00More Environmental Intervention<div style="margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYY31A7AjOI/AAAAAAAAAEo/vcYEDw5oDws/s1600-h/Art+142+Work-Working+Outside.jpg"><img style="width: 395px; height: 210px;" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYY31A7AjOI/AAAAAAAAAEo/vcYEDw5oDws/s320/Art+142+Work-Working+Outside.jpg" border="0" /></a></div> </div><br />Here is some more of my environmental intervention. It was so pretty outside today..almost like a Spring Day. I decided that I would take some more pics for my project. First is just branches that I stuck inside the cracks of the wall. Second, I took some sort of shells that I found and spelled out "WCU". Third, I just wrote "Hello" in the dirt with a rock. Fourth, I took rocks that I found and made a goal post with a football going through. TD-Touch down! That was in honor of the Super Bowl tonight. Fifth, I took some branches and made art. Last, I took some bigger rocks and placed them on the poles.<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1630861753042265276.post-12115488072673398772009-01-29T21:14:00.001-05:002009-01-29T22:16:50.400-05:00Artwork from my Class Tonight<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJie3DJv6I/AAAAAAAAAEI/J5zbVghBPEQ/s1600-h/DSCN1348.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; clear: both; float: left;" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJie3DJv6I/AAAAAAAAAEI/J5zbVghBPEQ/s320/DSCN1348.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />For my Art 3-D class, we learned about artists who use the environment for their medium. It's called environmental intervention. Andy Goldsworthy is a famous guy who does this. You use the environment and just change it up a little bit. The first two pictures are leaves and brush that I transformed into a wreath. The second picture is a pinecone stuck between the railing. The last pictures are my favorite. Jennifer, this girl in my class, and I took leaves and brush and put them across the road. It LITERALLY<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJifD4ccDI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/ywGKhSYgcvU/s1600-h/DSCN1349.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; clear: both; float: left;" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJifD4ccDI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/ywGKhSYgcvU/s320/DSCN1349.JPG" border="0" /></a> stopped traffic. This guy was like whoa! I said don't worry, it's just leaves. WE thought it was funny.<br /><br />Oh and on my other project where I had to make something out of paper and one out of cardboard..I got an 86. I'm proud of that grade considering she said she does not really give out A's.<br /><br />I will update soon.<br /><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJifCA46II/AAAAAAAAAEY/LT03AkZqpD0/s1600-h/DSCN1351.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; clear: both; float: left;" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJifCA46II/AAAAAAAAAEY/LT03AkZqpD0/s320/DSCN1351.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJifVABLII/AAAAAAAAAEg/PLvZQ6LkD1Q/s1600-h/DSCN1353.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; clear: both; float: left;" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ideozu7cXQ/SYJifVABLII/AAAAAAAAAEg/PLvZQ6LkD1Q/s320/DSCN1353.JPG" border="0" /></a><div style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://picasa.google.com/blogger/" target="ext"><img src="http://photos1.blogger.com/pbp.gif" alt="Posted by Picasa" style="border: 0px none ; padding: 0px; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;" align="middle" border="0" /></a></div>Amandahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14179393403347506671noreply@blogger.com2
