WCU Update

So I had just laid down after getting home from Kentucky and getting my room cleaned up and laundry done and I decided to check my school e-mail ( If you want it, just ask).

I have my room assignment!!!!

I got Central Drive!!!! It's the brand new one that I wanted.

So excited! It said I would also have info about my roommate but I couldn't find any info so I am going to call tomorrow. I will keep everyone updated. I have the actual room number, address, and phone number but I did not want to post it so I will have one for Grandma and Angie on Christmas. :)

The Secret Life of Bees

Hello everyone. Sorry it has been so long but I am updating now. On Saturday night, the whole family went out for Nana's birthday at Binion's. It was delicious. After that, we went and saw The Secret Life of Bees. It was such a great movie. Dee and Rebecca had read the book and they raved about it, so I was excited to see the movie. Wonderful! Now I want to read the book after I finish all my other books I'm reading for English.

Also Congratulations again to Shawn and Tiffany on your wedding. Tiffany-you looked beautiful.

One more thing- Atley got a promotion at Best Buy. He is now a Customer Assistant. Congratulations :)

Day that will always be remembered

September 11, 2001.

Today marks the 7th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Mr. Bashkin (my history teacher) showed us a slideshow today in history class. Some of the pictures I have seen but some I had not. It is still eerie to see those pictures and all the loved ones that were lost. I still remember I was in Mrs. Maxwell's 8th grade english class when it happened. We were watching some movie and everyone noticed the teachers pacing up and down the halls. I will always remember that. It will be interesting in 30-40 years to see what history teachers will say about it. Thank you Nathan, and all the other soldiers out there still fighting for our safety. God Bless You.

School has Begun

School started today for me and Amy. I woke up bright and early at 6:45 to get ready for school. I even made frozen waffles for breakfast. Then it was off to Sociology class at 8 am. I get there and an administrator informed all of us barely awake that our teacher was on VACATION. Hello! Vacation is over, school has begun. I was so upset that I got there for nothing. Well I drove back home and slept until time for American History 1. I rode with Amy since she has Biology at 10:30 also. That class was easy. Well I am at home sitting and watching General Hospital until time to go back to school at 5 for Biology 2. Have a good day!

Randy Pausch

Hello everyone.
I was at work surfing the internet, I mean working very hard. :) I saw a headline for Randy Pausch. Now I had no idea who this man was but wow, he is incredible. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about two years ago. He has three children. He wrote a book called the Last Lecture. There was a Primetime special with Diane Sawyer back in April with him but I never saw it. I just watched the special in five parts on youtube.com Just go and search his name. I am starting to watch his last lecture which is "Acheiving your Childhood Dreams." It really is amazing. Sadly, he died on July 25, 2008. If you have time in your busy day, you really should watch it.

Weekend

Hello everyone
Sorry it has taken so long to update. Thursday night at midnight(or I guess Friday morning at midnight), Atley and I went and saw Stepbrothers with Will Ferrell. It was so funny. I would go and see it again. On Saturday, me, Matthew, and my mom went and saw my grandma and grandaddy for his birthday. We went to Captain's Bay in Waynesville. It was good food except it took forever to get our food. That's about all right now that has happened.

The other day Atley and I bought a book of useless information and I thought I would share a couple facts with you.

1) Coca-Cola was originally green.
2) An official baseball has 108 stitches.
3) Tom Hanks is related to Abraham Lincoln.

Christmas In July

WOOOOO!!!! I got a brand new laptop computer. It is my Christmas present from my mom and my dad. I got it early because we got an awesome deal. It is a Gateway M 6843 from Best Buy. Last night, Atley transferred my stuff over from my old computer to my new computer. It is so pretty and RED! My dad is taking my old computer so I Kentuckyized it. lol. It's all set up for someone who doesn't have a cell phone. Just the basics. Atley got rid of most of the icons so he would not get confused.

I will put some pictures up once I figure out how to use just the SD card without using the cord to transfer.

WNC Ribfest 2008

On Friday evening, Atley and I went to the Ribfest at the WNC Ag Center. Atley got the sample ribs at Big Boned Ribs. They won last year as best ribs and sauce. I got a pork sandwich at Kiefer's. I think that's what it was called. Well Atley decided to play some of the carnival games. He won me a Dora the Explorer doll and a flower. A reporter from the Asheville Citizens Times was there and he took our picture. They are on the website under Ribfest pictures. Above are the four that we were in.

Happy Fourth of July

I want to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July. 232 years ago, we gained independence from England. On this day, I would like to thank everyone who has or currently is fighting to keep our independence. We all thank you and appreciate you.

You’re a high flying flag
And forever in peace may you wave.

Where there’s never a boast or brag. But should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep you eye on the grand old flag. "

To Grandmother's House We Go

Yesterday was Grandparents Day for me and Amy. We ate lunch at Bay Breeze with Nana, Daddy, and Matthew. Then Amy and I came up to see Grandma and Grandaddy. We had an excellent dinner, like you would have thought different. And Grandma made CHOCOLATE cake! It is fantastic. Today we played Phase 10. Grandma won. It was a lot of fun. Amy had to leave for work but I am staying another night.

Update on Atley: He checked into orientation on Tuesday night. He went to a lot of vendors and got 5 goody bags with pocket screwdrivers and pens. The last time I talked to him today, he said he was going to a water park! Sounds like fun! Yesterday he ate at Jack Stack's BBQ and said it was awesome food. He bought one of their sauces. He spoke with people from Idaho and Texas. He said the Idaho people talked funny...but they probably said the same thing about him. LOL. Well, I'm going to get off of here.

Atley in Kansas City

Hello everyone.
Hope your week is going well. Atley left today for Kansas City, MO to compete at the National Level for the Skills USA Competition. He already won state and he is hoping to bring home the National title. He was supposed to leave out of Asheville at 4 pm today but was delayed until 5:30. His original route was to leave Asheville, go to Detroit, then Chicago, and finally Kansas City. Now instead of Detroit, he is going to Cincinnati. He will be back on Saturday afternoon. I will be sure to update his winnings when I find out. I'm going to my Grandma and Grandaddy's for a few days to visit with them. I am excited!! Well I"m going to go because I'm going to my brother's baseball game.

Beach Vacation

Got back from Myrtle Beach yesterday around 5:30. Amy and I had never been and we all had so much fun. Thank you Momma for taking us. It was a memorable vacation. We had a lot of fun. On vacation, we went to the Family Kingdom Water Park and also the amusement park. At the amusement park, Amy, yes I said Amy, rode the 8th best roller coaster in the U.S. It was so funny. She was screaming like someone was murdering her. :) Momma and I rode the log flume and she got soaked. We bought the picture that they take when you are going down the hill. It is very funny. Amy and I made sand castles with Amy's pail and shovel. Momma confused this little boy by telling him that he was knocking on the wrong room, that he kept knocking on 23(we were in 22). It was so funny. Maybe you just had to be there. Amy and I ate 21% of the 170 item buffet at Captain Benjamin's. It was delicious. I will post more. and I am going to see if I can do a slideshow of the pictures but I will need momma's help. Hope everyone else had a wonderful week. We sure did!

ONE more day!

Good morning everyone. I am sitting here at work listening to some 80's music. Can't Fight this Feeling by REO Speedwagon to be exact. :) Anyways! So tomorrow Amy, Momma, and I head to Myrtle Beach Sea Mist for vacation. So excited. Matthew will be snubbed for a while since he ditched us(just kidding on the snubbing.) So last night was Rebecca's Performing Arts and it was so good. Amy went with me and I really think she enjoyed it. Well I am going to go and "do some work." Yay beach!!

Good Weekend

So on Friday, Jordan graduated from high school. On Saturday we had a party for her and also "to entertain." Aunt Debbie, Uncle Neal and his wife Angie came down and visited. It was really nice. A lot of fun too. The glass table top broke before the party started, it was VERY, and daddy caught the burgers and the box they were in on fire. It was quite an interesting party. So on Tuesday, Rebecca (Atley's sister) has her ballet recital at Hendersonville High School at 7 pm. They are doing Snow White this year. On Wednesday, Performing Arts, which is where they perform all the dances they take to competition. I am going Wednesday if anyone wants to go. Have to work on Tuesday...grr. oh well. so 5 days until we leave for Myrtle Beach. WOO HOO!!!!!

First Blog

Hello everyone. My mom informed me that two of my cousins had blogs and it was about time that I had one. I granted her wish. I am starting this blog now so I will be in habit when I start Western Carolina in January. I will try and keep everyone posted. So right now, I am sitting here at work wishing that it would be 10 pm so I could go home. I must say that time has just flown by. I really enjoy quotes so I will try to leave one everyday. Some will be serious and some will be funny.
